Early Life and Career of Leonard Nimoy:

Leonard was born in Boston in Massachusetts to Dora and Max Nimoy. His parents owned a barber shop and were Ukrainian Jewish immigrants. He started playing small roles since very early. The actor remained with his local kiddie theater troupe until 16 (one of his directors during this period was Boris Sagal). He did not make his debut in Hollywood till he was 20 and also took acting classes from Jeff Corey at the Pasadena Playhouse.

He appeared in very small and insignificant roles in his earlier films and play and studied at Boston College and Antioch College; he took acting lessons from Jeff Corey at the Pasadena Playhouse. He played a role of Mr. Spock who was half-human and half -Vulcan science officer in the series which was television’s all-time successful series. He won three Emmy nominations for his performance and launched his career as a director and writer as well.

Nimoy later hosted the well-known television series in In Search of… in 1976 and Ancient Mysterirs in the year 1994. He became a famous name and wrote many poems and also appeared as a guest star in two episodes of The Simpsons in 1989.

The boy, who was nowhere and had not got any fame till 20 years of age, has now become famous in almost all the creative fields. In the latter years, he played a role of Mustafa Mond in NBC’s Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World telecasted on 1998. He also voiced Sentinel Prime in another blockbuster Transformers: Dark of the Moon aired on 2011. In the two new Star Trek Films, Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek into Darkness (2013), he again played his famous role of Spock.

Death of Leonard Nimoy

Leonard Nimoy, the gaunt-faced actor who won a worshipful global following as Mr. Spock died on Friday morning of February 27, 2015 at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles, California. He was 83.

His wife, Susan Bay, confirmed the news of his death, saying the cause of the death was his long lasting chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which was in the last stage.

Leonard had previously announced that his habit of smoking was the reason of his disease which he had announced last year, though he had given up the smoking three decades earlier. He had been hospitalized earlier in the week as his health had got down.
