Who was Jagdish Prasad Vats?
Jagdish Prasad Vats was also a teenager boy of 17 years old that time who was also inclined towards the freedom fighting movements happening throughout India. That teenager played the trumpet of independence while in college.
Life of Jagdish Prasad Vats
Jagdish Prasad Vats was born on 15 July 1925. He was the resident of village Khujri Akbarpur in Saharanpur district.
Contribution of Jagdish Prasad in Freedom Fight
Jagdish Prasad was a student of Rishikul Ayurvedic School in Haridwar. In the year 1942, on the night of August 13, a meeting was held in the hostel. It was decided that the following day i,e. August 14, while fighting with the English police, they would hoist the tricolor flags and would raise slogans of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Inqlab Jindabad”.
Jagdish Prasad Vats moved out in the dark itself in night for Haridwar to implement their plans along with some other students.
How was Jagdish Prasad Vats Martyred?
In the presence of policy, they hoisted a flag at Subhash Ghat. Police bullet ripped through his arm and imitated. Rest of the students were dispersed but Jagdish Prasad stood firm there. He tore his dhoti and wrapped on his wound.
Immediately he moved to hoist another, the police again shot at him and this time on his foot. This time also he covered his wound and moved to hoist one more flag. He pulled up with the support of a pipe and raised one more flag on the Railway Station.
The moment he was coming down, he was encountered with Inspector Prem Shankar Srivastav and slapped the inspector. The inspector shot a gunfire at him in the chest. Jagdish got unconscious and was admitted in a hospital. He was brought to a Dehradun Military Hospital. There he was asked to surrender and apologise but he refused that. As a result he was given an injection filled with poison which killed this innocent but brave young boy.
