March 16 – National Vaccination Day
onMarch 16 is celebrated as National Vaccination Day. It is also celebrated as National Immunization Day.
Origin and Objective of National Vaccination Day
The first National day of vaccination was observed on 16 March, 1995 . The same day first dose of oral polio vaccine was given to the children.
In March 2014, India was declared free of polio by the WHO due to its all aggressive vaccination campaigns that have rid the country of polio. The main objective of National vaccination day is to eradicate polio from the earth.
Since 1995, National Vaccination Day is observed on 16 March, to commemorate the first administration of Oral Polio Vaccine.
