Losing a near one is never so easy!! Same is the case with a pet too. All pet lovers have to go through this pain sooner or later. Those who don’t own any pet would not understand the pain that how it feels like. For them, it was just a dog, a rabbit or any other pet. But for those who own a pet, its a loss that no one can understand.
The main aim of this article is to clear up some of the common myths in the society associated with the grieving of pets.
Myth 1: It’s weird to grief over a pet loss?
Fact: Its not weird to grief over a pet loss rather its beneficial. Pet lovers understand that its so painful seeing the loss of a pet and the feeling is just like the pain one gets when a family member is lost. So, you have full right and reason to mourn on the loss of a pet.
Myth 2: Expressing sorry on the pet loss is not good
Fact: No, you are also a human being and had a great a bond between you and the pet. So, it is not bad to express sorry on the loss of a pet. Do as much cry or sorry as it was your closed but who is no more in the world now!
Myth 3: Blaming veterinarian for pet loss
Fact: Veterinarian is specialized doctor who takes care of our pets. When we lose and grieve on our pet lose we start blaming him for the loss. We consider him culprit and blaming him for the death of our companion loss.
This is not correct as the doctors are our well wishers and try hard to save our pet. But such mis-happenings can happen in the real medical world and nothing is in our hands.
So, one can be angry on the doctor but blaming him is not correct always!!
Myth 4: Taking extra time for sorrow and coming out of situation shows your weakness
Fact: You and your lost pet were like a family. You can not come out of the sorrow of your pet loss overnight. You are a human being and taking time to cope up with this situation is just normal!!
It does not mean that you are weak and not strong enough. You have full right to take some time off so that you can heal and move next in your life.
Myth 5: You should not get another pet
Fact: The pain that loving pet owners feel on losing the loving pet is immense. It can be really very hard to bear and handle the loss.
This loss can sometimes never be repaired and replaced throughout the life. It is true that seeing any other’s pet you would remember your own beloved one that you have lost.
Take your time and do not be in a haste to get a new one to wipe off the memories of your lost pet. Just take some time and wait for the right time. But never stop yourself of dreaming a pet in your life as no two pets could be the same. So, if at any point of time you feel right, just go and get a new pet.
Myth 6: I killed my pet
Fact: Every pet has a time span for which he lives. Also, every pet deserves a good and healthy life not a long and unhealthy one. They should not be suffering any pain for long. So if your pet is going through a pain and discomfort, its good to go for euthanasia.
Euthanasia is the right thing sometimes for your pets to get rid off any pain and discomfort.
Myth 6: It is selfish if I opt to euthanize my pet
Fact: If you are going through the loss of a pet and very sad on this….consider this normal.
If someone tells you to be judgemental, practical and not bother much on the loss, just ask him to get out of your sight.
If you had deep emotional bonding with your pet and stronger feelings, consider this as a point to boast upon and not a sign of weakness.
