For the first time in the history of the country, the Supreme Court on Tuesday(27 September, 2022) started live telecast of the proceedings of the Constitution Bench. It started with the Uddhav-Shinde case. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal argued on behalf of the Uddhav faction.

Supreme Court Live Streaming: In a historic moment in the history of the Indian judiciary, the Supreme Court on Tuesday broadcast its proceedings live on YouTube for public viewing. The proceedings were watched by over eight lakh viewers.
A statement issued by the Supreme Court said the move will go a long way in removing the distance constraints and provide citizens with an opportunity to watch the proceedings of the Supreme Court from every nook and corner of the country.

The court further said that this is a humble beginning and now efforts will be made to live-stream the proceedings in all important matters till the time live-streaming of the proceedings becomes the normal course.
Three Constitution Benches in Court No. 1, 2 and 3 of the Supreme Court of India sat together on the first day, and the proceedings in these three Courts were being streamed lived through YouTube, and other TV channels. Statistics show that more than eight million viewers watched.

On the first day, three constitution benches heard matters related to the Centre’s decision to give 10 per cent quota for EWS category in admissions and jobs, the Maharashtra political crisis and petitions challenging the control of administrative services in Delhi.
