Ashwini Kumar role in Olympics security

Kumar was given the responsibility of handling security of Olympics post from 1980 for six Olympics.

He made the tight arrangement of security so that no incident of terrorism could happen. He would believe that the first and the last day of the Olympics are very important as most of the attacks are made on these days only.

He made lots of contribution in the security of the Olympics. He was even awarded with the “Royal Spanish Medal” in the year 1992 when he was working as Security Delegate at the Barcelona Olympics. This is one of the highest civilian awards in Spain and is presented by the King of Spain.

In 2000, he was acknowledged as “Policeman of the Millennium” in Sydney for his work towards the Olympics security.
