Shakira Tax fraud trial in Spain
On 27 September, a Spanish judge a trial for the Colombian renowned pop singer Shakira. This trial is for the charges of fraud in tax.
According to the Spanish prosecutors, the pop start is accused for not paying 14.5 million euros ($13.9 million) in taxes in 2018 on income earned between 2012 and 2014.
The consequences of this trial could be eight year prison sentence along with a hefty fine if she is found guilty of tax envision.
Shakira had always denied this tax stealing and denied any charges against her. She had even rejected a deal with authorities to avoid going to trial. Her PR firm has already paid all the amount she owned plus an additional 3 million euros.
