Who was Anna Mani?
Anna Mani was the first meteorologist of India. She was the student of CV Raman and also worked as a visiting professor at the Raman Research Institute. She is one of the greatest physicist that India ever had.
Early life of Anna Mani
Anna Modayil Mani was born in Kerala to a Syrian Christian family. She had 7 siblings and was the seventh of the eighth child of her parents. Her father was a Civil Engineer by profession.
Anna Mani was in love with books and preferred to read all kind of books written in Malayalam or English. She got influenced a lot by books and this habit of her inculcated the sense of social justice in her since very beginning.
Other than books she loved dancing also. Her love of science and physics made her take admission in Pachaiyappas College in Chennai. She did her B.Sc Honors in Physics and Chemistry from this college. She even won a scholarship for her research work in the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
For higher education she even went to Imperial College, London where she initially was to study physics but later ended up by studying and specialising in meteorological instrument.
