Guru Gobind Singh led a very spiritual life but he was also a great poet, writer and philosopher at the same time. He founded the Khalsa community of Sikhs which was mainly a warrior community.

The religion Sikhism is derived from the Sanskrit word “Shishya“. The meaning of Shishya in English is Disciple.

What is MIRI-PIRI in Sikhism?

Sikhism is all about the relationship between a guru and a student. In Sikhism the concept of Guru is based on two pillars which are Miri-Piri.

Miri means temporal authority and Piri means spiritual authority.

There have been 10 Sikh Gurus after which there was no human guru and the book Granth Sahib is considered there Guru. Therefore, they name this book Guru Granth Sahib and have the highest regards in the religion.
