General Bipin Rawat was also the CDS means Chief Defence Staff of India. He was appointed as the CDS on 1 January, 2020.
Early Life of General Bipin Rawat
General Rawat was born on 16 March, 1958 and belonged to Pauri, Uttrakhand and he was not the first in his family who served Indian Army. His family had beeen serving in the Indian Army for four generations.
General Rawat was born to Lachu Singh Rawat who also served Indian Army as Lieutenant-General. His mother was the daughter of Kishan Singh Parmar who served as the ex-Member of the Legislative Assembly, Uttarkashi.
General Bipin Rawat’s wife would often seen by his side in most of the formal functions and had been his constant support. She was also the president of Army Wives Welfare Association(AWWA).
Mrs. Madhulika was graduated in psychology from Delhi university and had been very active in many social service programes for those needed in the society especially, cancer patients, Army widows and those who are differently-abled etc.

The couple is survived by the two daughters.
Death of General Bipin Rawat and Madhulika Rawat
General Rawat and his wife died in an unfortunate incident om 8 December, 2021 when an IAF chopper crashed in thick woodds of Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor.
General Rawat was accompanied by his wife Dr Madhulika Rawat in the chopper along with several other defence personnels.
The incident took life of all the 13 people who were in the chopper and one is struggling for his life in the hospital.
